A day of relaxation - March 1

Today we didn't do much except take it easy. What with walking an average of 10 to 15 km everyday we needed a break. Even then we managed 9.5 km.

We started the day at the central market where we bought fresh calamari for supper, along with some fresh flat green beans, strawberries, cheese, olives and serrano ham. Unlike in Moncton the food at the farmers market is cheaper than the grocery store. The fish vendor weighed our calamari and then proceeded to clean it for us and then cut it in rings like we asked. There were so many vendors it was hard to decide from whom to buy.

We strolled around the marina for a short while in the afternoon just for something to do. Stopping to look at menus in case we decide to go out sometimes. Everything closes from 4 to 8 so we find it too late to go out at night. I guess it's a sure sign that we are ageing. We also stopped to ask about getting a SIM card for Jacques phone for when my pkg finishes on the 12th. For 10 euros he can get a card with 3 gigs of data and 500 minutes of international phone calls. So much cheaper than home. We need a passport or photo id to buy it. Weird.

Jacques cooked the calamari like we had seen it done in Cuba with lots of garlic and white wine. It was delicious and very tender. With the green beans and a bit of leftover rice it made for an awesome and cheap meal.

A funny feeling walking on these tiles.
