We had planned to go to La Isleta again today but this
morning we decided that we were going to do the tourist thing and wander around
with no set plans. We went up to the castle again. There were a lot more people
than the first time that we had gone. You can tell that tourist season is starting
to rev up. Yesterday there were 2 cruise ships in port.
We decided to take a different route than we normally take
to go down to the waterfront and lo and behold the store that we have been
looking for the last couple of weeks. It was just one street off from the
central market that we go to at least a couple of times a week. We were not
looking in the right area at all. We decided that now that we know where it was
that we would come back for our tiles on the way back. We forgot that all the
stores close from 2 in the afternoon until 5. So, more steps tonight.
We stopped at the central market to get some fresh gambas
for a pasta supper and decided to buy these colored burgers for lunch. I chose
a spinach and chicken burger while Jacques went the curry way, his had beef,
chicken and curry. It had a bit more taste than mine. They were ok but not
great but at .90 a burger which we cooked in the frying pan and put on a piece
of baguette it was an ok lunch.
We bought our shrimp from the vendor who seems to caress his
fish as he prepares them for his customers.
He obviously loves his job. We quickly learned when we arrived that
there are reasons why some vendors have long lineups and others have not as
many customers. The service and the
freshness.
In the 6 weeks that we have been here we have yet to see a
pepper shaker at a table, but the salt shaker is everywhere.
We stopped at Cortez Englès hoping to find some Easter
chocolates for Bianca that would be different from what we have at home but the
few chocolates that they had were pretty much the same thing that we can get at
home so we will wait until we get home and ask Sylvie and Eric what they would
prefer we get.
We did buy some chocolate bars that are made here in
Villajoyosa.
