Today was market day. Last week we had decided that
Saturdays were too busy and so would go to the market on Fridays.
We were going for just a few things but came back with a
full grocery bag, Serrano ham, 2 types of cheese, a pâté, 4 artichokes,
strawberries, 3 kinds of mushrooms and a half kilo of red shrimps. There are
all kinds of shrimp, but we don't know what the difference is so tonight for
supper we'll have pasta in a red pesto sauce with red shrimps. Should be good.
Jacques is cooking. There will also be lots of garlic if I know him.
We arrived back at the apartment in time for a quick lunch
and then headed towards La Isleta on the tram for a small caching run. It
wasn't a very productive start. The caches were about 1.3 km apart, but they
were on a trail parallel to the ocean, so we didn't mind. There were lots of
surfers to watch because there were lots of waves on that side of the outlet. La Isleta is located on the other side of a point that shelters the Alicante beach. Being on this side, we saw a lot more waves than we se in Alicante.
After we finished the trail by the water, we went a bit more
inland where we ended up in a very upscale neighbourhood. It was obviously people with big money
because the houses were huge all with a view of the water.
La Isleta is the cleanest town we have been to so far on
this trip. There were garbage cans along the trail every couple of hundred feet
or so and not one piece of garbage on the ground. In Alicante we see people blowing their nose
in a Kleenex and then throwing it on the ground or the street and at the market
once their number is called, they just drop the tag on the floor.
By the time we arrived back the clothes that I had hung to
dry on the roof were dry.
Supper was very good. It was a do again recipe. And it was quick.
