Jacques and Rollande: Saturday

We received a call last night from the owners. Apparently, the residents take turns cleaning the stairs and common area in the apartment and it is their month to clean. They wanted to see if they could come and get water and cleaning supplies to wash the floors this morning.

While they were here, we asked how to do the check out when we leave. All we need to do is leave the keys in the apartment. They also said that they would call the taxi for us just let them know the time the day before.

After they left, we decided to go caching. We followed another section of trail by the water and ended up in La Isleta again. Every time we go there, we do a few caches in a series with Torres (towers). There are 20 towers in La Isleta, and they all have a cache. These towers were built in the 16th and 17th century. They were watch towers and also held water reservoirs in case of an attack. Most are still in good condition. Some have walls at the base that are 1 1/2 meters thick. One of the towers we did today is a home now. We also did a cache where there used to be an old Roman city. There was not much to see there except a few rocks. We didn't even bother to take a picture.

On our way to supper we noticed that the police were redirecting traffic, so we went to investigate. I could smell incense. There was some sort of procession with men carrying what looked like a very heavy statue of Jesus, there was also a priest and about 50 people. They had stopped to pray?

Supper at 9 was good but many of the tapas were the same as what we had at the lunch menu. We were hoping for more things. This is the type of place that Nathalie and Chris would love. 8 tapas before a main of fish (cod) followed by a main of pork tenderloin. Coffee, desert and a digestive. I'm not sure that Sylvie and Eric would like this. There were a lot of very different kinds of food. We left at 10:45 just after a group arrived for supper.
