What a start to the day. We're up at 4:15. The first thing that we
notice is a beep coming from our alarm system.
Jacques calls the alarm company, but they can't fix it at this time. So,
we leave for China with the alarm deactivated. Nothing to worry about we hope.
We proceed to the checkout counter and go to security where we
encounter another small hiccup. They just happened to give me 2 boarding passes
for Toronto and none for Jacques. So, he
heads back to the counter while I go through security with our carry on.
And now for number 3 because there are never 2 without 3. It was extremely hot on the plane to Toronto.
There was something wrong with the heating system and it couldn't be fixed
until we landed in Toronto. I hope this
is not an omen of how the trip will be.
And so, it continues, Jacques managed to spill a full glass of
tomato juice on his seat as well as on his neighbor.
The flight was really long but we arrived on time. A very long
line for registering in the country, but we were lucky and finished in about
half an hour. The people who were
besides us took a different line and it took them twice as long. Customs was a
breeze.
The guide holding the flag was not very visible. The flag was sort of curled, so you couldn't
see the name. We were the first ones there and waited over an hour for the
others to arrive. The bus ride to the hotel took almost 2 hours. The guide had said 1 hour if all went well.
The hotel is really nice definitely a 5+.
