We had asked for a 6:15 wake up call to see the three gorges, but
when we looked outside, we were already docked next to another ship. Within 10
minutes we were moving again. It was
worth the early rise. We got to see a spectacular sunrise with the mountains
and the river as background. It was the first time that we needed our jackets.
The mountains seemed to create a kind of tunnel effect.
We had booked the optional excursion, tribe of the three gorges
tour for $58 each. The tour is well worth it. The scenery was fantastic and
even if everything was staged for us tourists, it was well presented, almost as
a live museum. There was quite a bit of walking involved with stairs. I
strongly recommend the tour if you can walk. The pace was slow because of the
enormous amount of people.
