October 22 - Cruise - Day 10

Another early morning. We were up at 6:15 because the excursion to the Shibaozhai temple and pagoda was at 8:15. It was about a 15-minute walk lined with vendors. We brought more chop sticks for about a third of what we had paid for in Beijing.

Sunrise
A bit cool this morning
On the way there, we saw the women who were washing their clothes in the river. They seemed to be using the cement ramp as a type of wash board.

The walk across the bridge to the pagoda was not that pleasant when you have a tendency to be sea sick. The bridge sways with the movement of everybody walking. The climb up was not too bad. 99 steps and once you decide to climb there is no turning back, but it was not as bad as our guide led us to believe. For me the bridge was worst.

We set sail again around 10:30.

At 3 we went for the bridge tour on deck. It was just ok. At 4:30 there was a demonstration of how to make hot pot. They lost my interest when they added the msg. We stayed anyway and tried it since they were only giving out a few bites. It turns out that hot pot is what we call a Chinese fondue except much spicier.

Getting ready for the Captain's Dinner

The captain's farewell supper was a big disappointment. The food wasn't good and everyone at our table agreed that the buffet would have been better. I'd even go so far as to say that it was the worst meal of the trip.

After supper we headed to our rooms since our suit cases had to be out by 10.
