Saturday was supposed to be another quiet day. When the
owners arrived to fix the light, they said that they were going to one of their
houses if we wanted a ride to go caching we could go with them and come back on
the metro. It ended being in Campello where we had already gone and cleaned the
area of caches. So, we wandered around for a while before taking the tram back.
We found a park with hundreds of ribbons dangling from the branches of a big
tree. Every ribbon was a memorial to a dog or cat with their name written on
it. I didn't think of taking a picture before we were gone. We spent about 30
minutes looking at the ribbons for one with the name GEO but didn't find it.
There were way too many ribbons flapping in the wind.
After supper we went down to the train station again to buy
tickets to Valencia for Monday. We leave at 8 and come back at 8:00. It's a 2-hour
train ride each way. It will make for a long day. We figure it's about a half hour walk
to the train station from the apartment so will have to be up earlier than
normal. I made sandwiches that we will eat on the train for breakfast.
Sunday, we went down to the marina and beach again. There is
a 14-stage multi cache that we want to do. It is the 14 stone crosses that
represent the stations of the cross. We
wanted to check out the first 2 or 3 to give us an idea what we were looking
for. It is over 6 km long as the crow flies so we will do that probably on
Wednesday after we have recuperated from our trip to Valencia. We were told
that every year as part of the Easter celebrations, they close down the street
and huge crowds of people walk the entire length, stopping to pray at each
station. It is in a part of the city that we haven't gone to yet so after those
are done and after exploring the area, we will take a tram back.
This afternoon we took the owner, her sister and daughter
geocaching. They wanted to see how it's
done and if they would like it. We had a great time climbing the small mountain
in their backyard. Now they want to add the geocaching app to their phone. The
young daughter was running with my GPS trying to follow the compass arrow. It
was the hardest physically that we have done since arriving in Alicante. Going
up was not so hard but coming down we did not choose the easiest way. My old
knees found it a little hard but everyone else didn't seem to mind.
We then went for a drink at their home. They live in a posher
part of town in a gated community with a beautiful view of the mountain.
