Today we decided to go to San Vicente again to do a trail
that had a number of caches. We took the tram to the end of the line and then
proceeded to walk for over an hour to where we thought was the bus stop that
would take us to almost the end of the trail. Then we would walk back to the
city. We went everywhere except where we should, asking for directions and
everybody sending us to a different place. We finally found a mechanic who
could talk French and he sent us back the way we had come to the stop in front
of the hospital. He said that all buses stopped there. By the time we arrived
we had missed the bus by about half an hour. Since the bus we needed only comes
along every 2 hours (it is in the country not the city) we gave up on the idea
of doing the whole trail for today.
We did a small part of it. It took us where there were
orange groves, lemon trees, olives tree farms (don't know what they are called)
and almond trees. Farming these crops must be lucrative because the houses
behind the high walls and fences were big with most having a private pool and
all of them having a couple of guard dogs as well as alarms at the gates. It
was a nice trail with lots of shade which was nice. But what we thought were
going to be small villages were farmhouses so if we decide to do the whole trail,
we will have to think about bringing a lunch and more water since there won't
be a bar where we can stop for refreshments like we had anticipated.
Anyway, it turns out that we could have hopped on a bus
right across the street from where the tram stops. It would have taken us to
the bus stop that we needed. If and when we decide to finish our trail, we will
know where to go.
While we were in the town running around trying to find our
bus stop we noticed that a lot of the stores had hooks outside their doors for
people to attach their dogs. Some stores even had a few hooks.
