Elche - March 7

We caught the 8:25 train to Elche with about 30 seconds to spare. We had planed on taking the 8:54 train but after we had bought our tickets the cashier told us we had 2 minutes to make the 8:25 so we made a mad dash and got on the train just in the nick of time.

All I can say about Elche is wow what a beautiful town. We thought that we were visiting a park with 92 different palm trees it turns out that the palm trees are all over the town, some are in parks but there are palm trees everywhere. We walked all day except for lunch. We had planned on caching until about 7 or so but after not finding 4 in a row we decided to take the 6:00 train back to Alicante. It was another great day with my highest number of steps to date with the new Fitbit. 30,000 steps, a little over 20km.

Elche is really nice and only 30 minutes from Alicante by train for 4.25 return each. So far it is the prettiest town that we have been to this trip as well as all the palm trees there is a nice old town part, a couple of aqueducts, a trail along the dried riverbed and lots of sculptures and fountains.

  1. It does look like a really cool place. Nice that it’s so close for you from Alicante.
