Jacques and Rollande: 1st cloudy day

We have decided that we would limit our outings to every second day so since yesterday we went to Benidorm today is a day to just stroll around in Alicante. No sun today but still warm.

We had an amazing time at the market. We stopped at one stall for cheese and the guy had us try different kinds and even opened up a bottle of wine so that we could sample the wine at the same time we were chewing it. We ended up buying 2 very good cheeses from him much tastier than what we had previously bought. He was a good salesman, but we had a great time and the price was much better than we expected. Totally worth the couple of extra euros.

We also bought more artichokes, even if they weren't as big as on Saturday and Jacques bought more of the Serrano jamon. One vendor took the time to explain the differences in the different hams and how to spot the different qualities from their labels and color markings. I guess midweek they have more time than on weekends to talk. We did not buy from him since we had already bought from the same vendor as last week. We are starting to understand how things are done and go to the vendors with the longest line. We figure they most have the better stuff if that's where the locals go.

Since we had time on our hands we stopped for a beer and tapas on the way to do a multi stage cache in the afternoon. We had to find answers to 6 questions to find the cache. It took us back up the steps towards the Santa Barbara Castillo but through different streets than we had taken last time. We obviously didn't have the right answer to at least one question because the checker was not correct. Even though it's up stairs all the way, I don't mind having to do it again because It's such a pretty route with the narrow alleys, the tiled walls and various potted flowers on the way. Thanks to geocaching we again found these incredible areas as well as a couple of old churches.

In the evening we walked to the train station to get information on tickets to Elche. Not as many steps as usual today. I barely made it to 15,000 steps.
