Everything is closed on Sunday in Spain, so we figured we'd
do as the Spaniards do and relax today.
We went for a stroll along the explanada or the sidewalk
along the waterfront, but it was too hot for us, 28 degrees. People were
arriving in droves to the beach. This is mid March, low season I cannot imagine
how packed it would be in July.
Tomorrow we are thinking of doing our big hike outside of
San Vicente. So, we might as well take it easy today. Hopefully it will be
cooler tomorrow.
There are playgrounds at every corner for the children. Most
are on the wide sidewalks between the one-way streets. We take grass for
granted at home and complain about having to mow it but here, I'm sure most of
the children have never played on real grass before. The only green grass that
we have seen so far is at a McDonald's where they had artificial turf in front.
All the playgrounds are either surrounded by ceramic blocs or on dry dirt, but
there are lots of them every where.

Wow, it is much warmer there than it is here. Only a couple of very brave souls have been in the water here. It is about 20 degrees every day. Funny your comment on kids playing on the grass, we were just commenting on the dogs here, I bet they have never peed or pooped on grass, they just do all their business on the sidewalks. People are very good at picking up dog dirt, thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we can't say the same about the dog owners here. Yesterday, the temperature was back down to 18. Best we had before that was around 23.
DeleteLoved the mushroom street. So cool. I would enjoy the 28 degrees.. but maybe not for hiking long distances like you guys do.
