March 6 - Olhos d'Agua

Today was another cloudy day so we decided to go to Olhos d'Agua, the town where we had stayed at 12 years ago on one of our first trips to Europe. We hopped on the city bus and went as far as we could and then walked the rest of the way. It took us over an hour after we got off the bus which was about halfway.

There were a few hills on the way, but nothing compared to the hills here in Albuferia.  We did a few caches there and climbed the same path in the orchra colored sand that we had climbed 12 years ago. (it was a lot easier then). We were rewarded with an amazing view and 3 caches.

I wonder what could be hidden at the base of that tree?

We tried to find our apartment hotel where we had stayed but everything had changed so much that we started back on our trek home without finding it. We stopped for lunch/supper before heading back. The prices were better. We both had the grilled squid which came with potatoes, broccoli, carrots and a small salad. All drizzled with lots of olive oil. Lots of healthy calories there. But it was so good after all that walking.

We only had one rain shower today and it started just as we were passing a café announcing 1-euro beers (they are about half size). So, we sacrificed ourselves and stopped for a beer. It was a cheap way to get out of the rain. It's funny how it can be sunny one minute and pouring the next, almost like in the Caribbean except It's a bit warmer there.

I had more steps today but not as many stairs. I'm logging between 20,000 and 23,000 steps a day which is about 10,000 less than Spain but I feel as if I'm working a lot harder. Spain was definitely flatter.

Tomorrow we are going to take it easy and just wander around our neighborhood.
