March 5 - So many hills



Another day with sun and rain. We have been having rain every day so far. The sun is shinning one minute and the next minute it's pouring. It hasn't stopped us from walking. When it starts to rain, we either take shelter under a patio somewhere or use it as an excuse to stop for a beer. This weather is supposed to last until Friday. We have been getting between 16 and 18 degrees during the day but lots of wind. The fishermen have not been going out. The surf is so big that it goes over the piers.

Today we walked to the marina. The houses near the marina reminded me of Newfoundland with all the bright colours.  It's rare to see brightly painted houses in Europe but there were plenty near the marina.

We also decided to use the escalator to go to the grocery store. Today I logged 101 flights of stairs. There is no place that is not either up or down a hill plus there isn't an elevator in our building. The back of the legs are getting a bit tired. I'm not complaining, I wanted to come and knew beforehand that it was hilly. That hill coming back from the river course at Pine needle is going to be a piece of cake after this.

We didn't meet anyone new from the Maritimes, but we did see Jacques old colleague again. They used to live on Avalon St.

We found a great sale on wine today. 15-euro bottles for 4.50, 13-euro bottles for 3 euros and 7-euro bottles for 2.49. We bought 4 bottles.  If we'd been able to carry more, we would have loaded up but with that should be good for a few days.
