Not much to report today since it rained most of the day. For a while it looked like it was clearing so we headed toward the cathedral. We stopped around 1 o’clock for lunch and shared a plate of squid. We were supposed to have a geocaching event in Paza Nueva but as expected no one showed up. I wouldn’t have showed up either in the pouring rain if it hadn’t been our event. We waited about 15 minutes and when there was still no one around we decided to go explore Cortes Ingles just to pass the time.
We started with the electronic dept to see if they had adapters in case our other one also broke, we’d know where to go but there was none. So, we took the escalator to the 5th floor where they have the gourmet section and restaurant. We browsed but did not buy anything. Jacques was tempted by a 7,000-euro bottle of cognac but it would have been too heavy for our suitcase, so we didn’t buy it.
I washed the floors and did a bit of prep for supper since it’s my time to cook. We figured we’d go for a walk before supper if it cleared up since we hadn‘t reached our minimum 10 km a day goal. We were lucky around 5 o’clock the sun came out, so we went for a walk to try and find another convent that sells cookies that is nearby. We knew that it would be closed at this hour, but we found it, so next week we will try Convento de Santa Ana as it is only about 5 minutes away from our apartment. We then walked both sides of the long plaza (Alameda de Hércules Square) but it is quite long and has restaurants and bars all the way down on both sides.
