March 14 - Marc and Mary-Sue

This morning, we did groceries. We went to a grocery store close to the Triana bridge to buy some shaved salt that I had seen a couple of weeks ago and hadn’t bought thinking that I would be able to find it in a grocery store near by. Then we started our hunt for fresh shrimps. The local fish store didn’t have the right kind, so we went to 3 other stores before we found the ones that Jacques wanted. We rested a bit at the apartment before heading to Plaza Nueva where we met our golf friends Marc and Mary Sue. They arrived in Seville at noon and their hotel is about 15 minutes from our apartment.

They hadn’t eaten lunch, so we suggested Dos de Mayo. Even if it was still early, we had to wait over half an hour for a table. Each couple ordered a grilled squid to share. It comes with a small salad. We then took them to see the Setas, the convent de Santa Ines where we bought cookies to bring home for Easter (Mary Sue is gluten intolerant so we figured they would not want to buy anything) but Marc bought some Madeleines, the Cabildo plaza (plaza in a semi circle) and the Cathedral. We also showed them where to go if they want to visit Alcazar. We then stopped for a drink in a small bar for an hour or so but the smoke from the couple at the next table smoking cigarettes drove us away.

We walked back and left them not far from their hotel for the night. Before leaving we exchanged a few cookies so we could try his madeleines and he could try some chocolate and almond cookies.  Jacques was going to make a risotto with the shrimps for supper, but we arrived too late and too tired, so it will be tomorrow night's supper. He cooked the shells tonight to add to the broth so at least part of it will be done for tomorrow.

We are meeting Marc and Mary Sue tomorrow at 9:30 in their plaza to go to Plaza EspaƱa and the Maria Luisa park. Depending on the time and energy we will go to Triana or Macarena area. We will walk there but probably take the tram back.

Finally found a time where this spot was not full of people.

Found a better angle than the first week for a picture of the Setas.
