They were announcing rain for today, so we didn’t venture far. As it turns out the rain did not come before 8 o’clock tonight. We started by going to visit the church that was closed yesterday next to the convent that sells cookies. There were a lot of people visiting the church, but it was not as well decorated or opulent as some other churches that we have seen. On the way we watched a demonstration of women going by with drums and fanfare. It was women’s day and they were marching for equality. We went for another look at people buying sweets from the nuns and then went to buy a few groceries for the weekend. Another rabbit, salad, more flat green beans, oranges, strawberries, and supplies for another pasta sauce.
We dropped off our groceries and since the sun was out, we headed towards Macarena basilica since it was during hours that it is supposed to be open. Afterwards, it was still nice out, so we walked to a cache a km further towards an area we hadn’t gone to yet. The walk was nice, but no cache. A local even told us where it was, but it wasn’t there so we headed back because by then we were a few km from our apartment.
We stopped at a small bar in a church square, and each ordered a tapa, Jacques calamari, and I ordered the spinach and garbanzo beans. We were given a small tapa of some sort of beans with our beer. I asked the lady what it was, but I don’t remember the name. Anyway, we had almost finished the dish when we realized that we were the only ones eating the little peel, everyone else was taking it off and putting it on the little dish that came with it. More fibre for us . It was not that bad and definitely edible. Within a few minutes the place was full. It was obviously a local hangout. The parents having a beer while waiting for the kids who were just coming out of school. The atmosphere was so jovial and fun that we stayed and had another small beer. The total for 4 beers, 2 tapas and bread and those beans was 13 euros. Not a bad deal.
