We took the train to Huelva. It’s a 1 ½ hour ride. The train was almost empty, I can see why there are only two a day. Huelva is not a tourist town except maybe in the summer, it seems to be an industrial town with lots of big companies installed along the river where they have docks and conveyer belts to either bring in material or ship out their products.
We went to Huelva to geocache, there are many caches scattered throughout the city and along the waterfront trail. Our aim was to do a 5 km stretch along the river. We walked from the train station to the trail which was not close by. It is a well-maintained river walkway that is paved in some areas and wood planked in other sections. The first km is very wide with many clean washrooms. This was a bonus. There is a trail for bikes and another for pedestrians. There are many shaded gazebos to sit and rest which were needed because it was 23 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. We found 41 caches along this stretch, so we are happy with our harvest.
At the end we turned around and walked back along the same route that we came. It was nice and mostly quiet away from the city noise.
We
returned to the train station for our return trip to find out our train was
delayed by 45 minutes. It must have affected the train routes because we
stopped several times to let other trains go by. All in all, it was 10 o’clock
instead of 8:30 before we arrived back at the apartment. It was a fun day with
over 19km walked. We have now reached 400km walked since our arrival in Spain.
We are hoping to do another 100 before we head back to Dieppe. We would like to
have walked the distance from Dieppe to Moncton.
Gazebos all along the trail.
There is a town of Weymouth less than 30 minutes from where I grew up in
Nova Scotia.

We had our fun with train delays and cancellations also. We think we will reach 500 KM as well as we are up to 422 so far. I think Wendy wants to walk to her home town of Arundel Quebec on this trip. 986 km if cutting thru Maine. I hope she does not decide to stay only in Canada 1040KM, LOL.
