March 4, 2023 - Sunny Day

Today was a beautiful sunny day. I overdressed when I put long sleeves on under my jacket. At one point I had to take my jacket off. We spent the day geocaching in the city going further towards the more modern part of the city. We had pavement on the street and on the sidewalks instead of cement blocks and stones. It was kind of nice not having to always look down so as not to trip. We found 5 out of 6. So not a bad day.

There were people everywhere. I don’t know if it’s the weather, or the fact it’s the weekend or if it’s march break or what but today was the most people we have ever seen anywhere except for maybe when we were in Rome the week the new pope was chosen. The lineups for the Duomo and the sandwich shops were so long that they were extended onto the next street. Even our neighborhood had a long line at the gelato place at the end of the day when it was starting to cool down.

Not even 11:00 yet and already a long line to visit the Duomo.

We saw many churches and what we think was a mosque behind a fence while caching, There was even a couple of buildings with long porticos that made us wonder if that was what Bologna will look like when we go.

People were fishing along this canal. The water did not look any more than 2 feet deep but you could see fish over a foot long.

Nice walking section with separate lanes for walking and cycling. Also a hedge between these trails and the street.

Do not know what this building represents, but at least, Canada is part of it.

We even went to a restaurant that we had gone to 10 years ago. It is a 70’s cafeteria style restaurant. We had a plate of lasagna, a plat of ribs and potatoes, a plate of green beans, a plate of brussel sprouts and 2 beers for a total of 20 euros. Not a bad deal. Rollande was happy because she had her veggies and Jacques was happy because he had his meat.
