Today was very quiet, We went to the market to get our supplies for the weekend. Fresh pasta, chicken, veggies and fruit. Among the vegetables that we bought were fresh small tomatoes as I write this, they are almost all gone they are so sweet and tasty.
As soon as the restaurant opened Jacques called to make a reservation for tonight. We got the last table available. The food was as good as all the reviews say it is. Rollande had the spaghetti hand made with shaved truffles, It was to die for, and we will be going again for that same dish. Jacques had the special of the day which was pappardelle also homemade with rabbit sauce. Rollande’s dish was by far the best with the shaved truffles on top. Rollande also had the Tuscan minestrone soup as an appetizer while Jacques had the caprese salade with roquette instead of basil. Along with a liter of Chianti and cheesecake for Jacques’ dessert and mascarpone with chocolate for Rollande. There was also the ever-present basket of dry bread and the liter of water. Tax, cover, and tip included it came to a whopping 60 euros. It was so good that we have reservations for next Wednesday. The restaurant is not very big. For the weekends they are already fully booked until the end of April.
I don’t know when the children go to bed but the 1st time we went for supper and again tonight people were arriving with small children around 3 years old at 8 o’clock for supper and the kids didn’t look tired. We have noticed this in other European countries as well.
The owner’s wife came this afternoon so that we could sign the papers for the forms for the government because we are staying longer than 3 weeks. They are all in Italian and after we had filled them, they came back with a mistake on where I was born. The owner had offered to do them for us. We questioned her and she said that anybody who stayed in Italy for more than 3 weeks by law is supposed to fill them in. If they have not been asked, it is the owners who are trying to skirt the law by not claiming all their rentals.
The rest of the day we just explored around our neighborhood. There are so many streets surrounding the square that we had not had a chance to explore them all. We found another square/playground just a couple of blocks away with a small market. There were about 10 or so stalls with veggies, honey, bread, wine, juices, cannabis etc. There was a fenced in soccer field and another fenced in basketball court as well as benches and a playground for younger kids. The market was still going on when we went for a walk before supper.
Since this is a slow day with only 2 pictures, it is a good spot to add our Boboli Gardens pictures from last Sunday. Boboli Gardens is located behind Pitti Palace. It was originally designed for the Medici family and is currently 111 acres so lots of walking, mostly either uphill or downhill.
