March 22, 2023 - Nighttime Pictures

Well today we walked quite a ways for a cache in a section of the city that we hadn’t been before but it was all for naught because we didn’t find the cache although it had been found just a few days ago. We stopped to pick up coffee on the way back since we were getting low.

After dropping off our coffee at the apartment and a short rest we went to our favorite restaurant where we had reservations for lunch. Last night we had told the couple from Alsace where we were going for lunch. They arrived at the restaurant while we were halfway through our meal. As there were no tables available, we invited them to join us at our table. We talked so much that when we noticed we were the only ones left in the restaurant. It was a pleasant meal. They are leaving tonight for Milan before returning home tomorrow. Because of all the strikes in France they left through Germany and will be going home that route, but they weren’t sure yet how they were getting home. Their son had driven them to the airport in Germany.

Pasta with shaved truffles, very good.

After all the goodbyes we headed to start another series of ‘where I go’ which was supposed to take us to all the ancient walls of Florence but even though we were at ground zero we couldn’t get the question to appear. These need to be done in sequential order so that means we cannot do the rest of the series. Too bad because it could have been an interesting series.

City gate where we tried to start our geocaching series.

We see these photo booths everywhere around the city and they are always busy.

This evening, we were starting to be stiff from just sitting so we decided to go across the bridge to the city center. We had not gone after dark since we arrived. It was busy but not as busy as we expected. We took many pictures at the same places where we had previously been during the day but wanted to see the effects at night. There were numerous musicians on the side streets leading to the Duomo. Some which sang very well and that grand père would have enjoyed. I even took a video of the duomo just so I could record one of the singers. We will be doing this again before we go home next week.

Previously took a picture from the exact same spot during the day.

Portico at the Uffizi Gallery.

Pointed the camera towards the Duomo so as not to show that we were recording her singing.
