March 3, 2023 - Geocaching day

I woke up this morning feeling a bit under the weather, so I took the morning easy while Jacques went hunting for a couple of caches. He found one of two, so not a complete lost cause.

By afternoon, I was feeling a bit better, so we took the bus to go to Piazza Michelangelo. Last time we had climbed up. The bus took us through a part of town that we hadn’t seen before even though at one point we went by this weird statue that Jacques had taken a picture of this morning. Once the bus had reached the top of the hill, we got off so that we could pick up a cache that was on the way. It was flat and a beautiful, paved path lined with trees.

We ended up at the church of San Miniato after climbing numerous stairs. We spent an hour or so exploring the grounds around the church. Basically, the whole ground is a cemetery. Some of those tombs and mini chapels were very awesome, with sculptures and carvings. The floor of the church was also covered with tombs, so different from home.

We decided to climb down rather than take the bus back. After going for a cache, we found a road that said dead end. We saw a man going down, so we decided to take a chance. Again, we were on a nice paved wide path and were lucky. It took us all the way down to the street. We were happy not to have to climb all the way up.

So, for a day that was supposed to be relaxed, I stilled racked up 15,000 steps. We are now well passed 200km walked since our arrival. We have basically walked from Moncton to Fredericton. We will see if we can make it all the way to Saulnierville from Dieppe.
