Since yesterday we had taken it easy, this morning, our muscles were much better and didn’t squeak as much when we moved. It being Sunday and Sunday is the day that everyone who is in Florence seems to be out in the streets, we decided to go geocaching in the outskirts of the city where there are much less people. But of course, when you reach the edge of the valley the terrain also becomes hillier.
We spent a good part of the day either climbing or going down a hill. On the steepest hill every few meters there was a station of the cross. It’s one way of going up without getting too winded. I guess our leg muscles will be talking to us again tomorrow. The good news is that part of the city is finished, so no need to go again. Hopefully, the other end if we decide to do it will be a bit flatter. We only have 5 days left. We have seen everything on our list except for Orvietto and we have decided to skip it because there are too many transfers to do to get there.
Since we had skipped lunch, (we didn’t see any open restaurants ) we decided to share a pizza in the square nearby to tide us over until supper. After a quick supper of fresh pasta from the grocery store with a jar of carbonara sauce that was perked up with capers and garlic by Jacques we settled in for the night since it started to rain around 7.
