We really liked Bordeaux especially once it stopped raining. It is a lot warmer than we had expected and we brought too many heavy sweaters that we didn’t wear. The mornings are cool, but it quickly warms up after 10.
The people of Bordeaux are especially friendly and polite. Everyone with no exceptions, say bonjour as you walk in a store or even on the street you get many bonjour. Even very young children aged 3 to 4 will say pardon if passing by you. Numerus times we have seen younger people offer their seat to an older person. People seem to talk to their children and explain everything they see more so than in Canada.
Restaurants are not cheap, but they offer good size portions. Wine is not expensive if you go with the house wines and there again, they pour a generous glass.
People seem to like to sit in the squares and have a drink even in the evenings or rain under the umbrellas. Shopping at the market is much cheaper than in the stores and you can choose what you want as well as the quantity. Would probably not want to come back in February since it is their rainy season.
City pass was well worth the money. Public transport is very good and easy to navigate.
