Today we headed out for our last long walk in the pink city. Tomorrow is packing day. We walked along the Garonne and crossed the river at the Pont St. Michel walking on the other side of the river then going inland and recrossing at Pont Croix de Pierre after looking at the stadium from the bridge. We tried to get in but all accesses were closed.

Since we still had a couple of tickets left for the bus, we decided to take the bus that would take us close to where we had bought wine yesterday. Bought a bottle of wine for tonight and then went across the street at the Carmes market for a small piece of cheese for breakfast tomorrow morning. We dropped our purchases at the apartment and headed to the restaurants upstairs at the Victor Hugo market. This meal was a bit disappointing. We took the full menu with vol au vent aux fruits de mer, as an appetizer for Rollande and Jacques had the fish soup. Both were ok but not great. We both had the duck confit for the main. The duck was very good, but the mashed potatoes and gravy were not very good. Dessert was good. Rollande had the chocolate mousse and Jacques the raspberry tarte.
We needed to walk that off, so we went to visit l’église du convent des Jacobins. We had gone last week but did not enter because they were renovating the roof. We had assumed that it was closed but the lady at the tourist office told us that they were open. One more check mark for the things we have seen.
Back to the apartment for a break. It’s 22 degrees and a bright sun. Finished by going for an ice cream for supper. Sat in the square by the fountain for a while watching people go by and then back at the apartment for a glass of wine on the patio.
All in all we have walked 415 km since we left home. Not too bad for 72 year olds I would say.
