March 16, 2026 - Failed geocaching plans

This morning we had planned on going towards the airport to do a few series of lab caches and to attend an event but after getting off on the wrong metro and paying again, only to find out that the bus we had anticipated taking was actually the airport shuttle we decided that paying 40 euros just to go do some caches was too expensive when there were still plenty to do elsewhere in Toulouse. We did a couple of caches and then came back to the apartment for a rest. The tram system in Bordeaux was much easier to understand.

Since we only have 3 days left instead of caching, we opted to go shopping for goodies we wanted to bring back to Canada. We still had one more bottle of wine to buy and wanted some foie gras and a few canned pâtés for special occasions. The first two places were closed on Mondays and the other one only opened on Tuesday at 2:30 so we walked back to where we were this morning and bought our supplies there. The staff near le marché de Carmes, were much friendlier than they have been around our neighborhood. We find that the people of Toulouse are bit more aloof and brunt than they are in Bordeaux. Maybe it’s because we are in a more touristy area and they are fed up with all us tourists or maybe that is just the way they are. But all in all, the people of Bordeaux were friendlier, and the younger generation was more apt to offer their seat to the older generation.

After dropping off our purchases we took a stroll around the Capitole before coming back to sit on our balcony with a bottle of wine that the lady at the wine boutique had suggested. If I’d have had to choose a bottle it would not have been my choice because the label was unassuming almost looked homemade but as they say never judge a book by its cover… It was one of our favorite so far and cheaper than many we have tried.
