March 2, 2026 - Public Gardens

We spent the day just wandering around in Bordeaux. We went to the public gardens where many trees are in bloom and wandered around on some of the paths. It was nice and quiet, but I imagine in the summer it must be filled with people. After doing the park we walked around some more, stopping in a store that sells only wine. We asked about what types of bottles we should look at to bring home and let age a few years. We can’t let it age too long at our age otherwise it will be the kids enjoying it instead of us. We bought one to drink tonight while we nibble. Tonight, supper will be cheese, bread, olives and a few charcuteries that we have left. We don’t want to have anything left in the fridge come Thursday morning when we leave for Cussac.

Must be some sort of day care. All the kids are color coded with lime green vests.

We have seen many buildings with narrow corners.

Beautiful day to have lunch outside

In the afternoon after a short rest at home, we went in search of a bonus cache that we had forgotten about and a regular cache which took us to Sainte Croix church. We visited the church and had a nice chat with the volunteer who was there. He had many questions about Canada. We finally found our cache after looking for a long time. We couldn’t decode the hint which was I put the ring on the finger in front of the church. We finally found it after reading past logs from people who had found it. We gave it a favorite point.

Made it back to the apartment by 4:30 to relax with maybe a short walk around the block after supper. Our wanderings today gave us just a little over 13 km.

We probably won’t be posting again until after the weekend. Many of the places that we go to are places that we have already been and taken pictures.

Tomorrow, our plan is to walk on the other side of the Garonne river for 3 or 4 more caches.
