Today was Andalusia day so almost everything was closed. We stayed in this morning to minimize our steps and give our legs a break, so I started the sauce for tonight’s pasta. Cutting the onion and garlic which is not an easy task with dull knives. I always bring a small sharpener in my bathroom kit, but you can only do so much with a cheap knife. I also added some diced bacon that they sell in the grocery stores in small packages. Cooked the onions, garlic and bacon for a while and put it in the fridge with the bottled sauce and a few herbes and spices. It will be an easy supper with the fresh pasta we bought a couple of days ago. There should be enough sauce for 2 meals.
After that was done, we headed out to see if there was any thing going on in plaza de San Fransisco where we had seen them building some sort of staging yesterday. The staging is far from being finished so obviously it is not for today. We will have to change where we are doing the geocaching event on Saturday because this stage is taking over most of the plaza. We will do it instead in Plaza Nueva which is nearby.
Since there was nothing else to do, we went for a couple of caches. Yesterday we saw a place that had a promotion for 4 tapas and 2 drinks for 20 euros, so we decided to try it. We sat outside and watched the hundreds of people walking by. For our tapas we chose patatas bravas, fried calamari, fried eggplant, and chicken in whiskey sauce. Everything was delicious and the tapas were generous portions. We had not eaten anything close to the cathedral thinking it would be mediocre and more expensive so were pleasantly surprised. It might be a do again but next time we will sit inside because there are too many panhandlers and people trying to sell you something or wanting money for a song etc.
We returned home via the Las Setas hoping to stop and visit the antiquarium which is included with yesterday’s ticket to Real Alcazar, but it is not open today. We will go another day. It is not far from our apartment.
Not many steps today with only 9 km but we needed the break. The plans for tomorrow have changed. We were planning on going to Cadiz but the hours that we wanted are not available so we will instead go to Cordoba and go to Cadiz next week. The lady at the train station recommended that we wait and buy our tickets on the day of but since it takes 1h45 minutes both ways we want the maximum time there. We tried booking online but the site will not allow us to put our home zip code and since they need our passport numbers it won’t accept the zip code here. When we get to the train station tomorrow, we will buy our tickets to both places.
