This morning when we got up it was raining really hard so today was a day of rest. André and Wendy left around 10:30 and Odette arrived at the end of the day. The first thing that I did was start a load of laundry so that Odette could have a clean bed. It takes so long to wash and dry things here that you have to start as soon as you are up.
André and Wendy had asked their taxi driver that brought them here to pick them up at 10:30 but he never showed up. We tried reaching him by phone since he had given them his card, but we kept getting an answering machine. They gave up waiting for him and flagged down one of the many taxis passing by. There are almost as many taxis on the streets of Athens as there are other cars and they are all yellow.
When Odette left Dakar the day before they had 42 degrees and she arrived on our coldest day so far 10 degrees. It was a bit of a shock to the system. Because it was so cold and that she had been travelling for almost 24 hours we just took her for a short stroll up the hill to see the view.
With no sun on the last 2 days we realized when she went to take a shower that the water tanks on the roof had no hot water. They are heated by solar panels. There is a button that we can press for a heater to warm up the water.
