March 5 - Easy day

Today we decided that it was time for a break since our rainy-day break didn't happen. We had asked for an extra key, so we were expecting the owner Ilias to come around noon. Until then we just relaxed and read on the patio (yes with our jackets on).

After they were gone, we went at the bakery next door to buy 2 cheese pies to try. They were 2 euros each and the perfect size for a small lunch. We bought 2 different ones and cut them in half so we could each taste both. Jacques really liked it while I thought they were just ok.

Cheese Pie and cheese pie with ham.
We then decided to go geocaching near the hospital but after finding only 1 out of 3 that we looked for we gave up and came back to the apartment for a beer and some dolmas.

Jacques cooked his octopus for supper. Last night he took off the head and then boiled the tentacles for an hour before marinating them overnight. I have to admit that I was a bit sceptical about supper, but it tasted a lot better than it looked. It had the consistency of slightly overcooked lobster and was really good. The marinade of olive oil, lemon juice and garlic gave it a good taste.

Dinner is served.
We went for another stroll after supper to take pictures of the Acropolis. Today was the day with the least steps since we have been here, 18,500 steps for a total of 12km. I should be good for the golfing season.

So far there doesn't seem to have many cases of covid 19 in Athens, most are on the west coast of Greece but we are being careful and are trying not to touch the rails and bars in the metro and are using our antibacterial soap a lot. I still have 2 small bottles left and 2 pkg. of one step wipes. The pharmacy and the supermarket have run out, but both told me to try again Monday.
