February 28, 2026 - Caught in the rain again

We started the day, by going to the market, to pick up something for supper. We bought the same type of rabbit bundles, one each. They were prepared with Dijon mustard but the first we had them, we found the mustard taste to be very mild so we bought a bottle of mustard to put some in the rabbit. It made a big difference, much better. It was such an easy supper and something that we both enjoy. To go with that, we bought one red pepper, some fingerling potatoes, and those flat green beans that we like. The veggies came to 1 euro70.  I could not even get one of the 3 items for that price home.

After delivering the supplies for supper at the apartment we headed for place des Quincoces, stopping at the tourist bureau for information on the festival that is happening tomorrow. It’s another parade with dances at the end. It’s supposed to be bigger than the one last week. This is their 30^th year that they have this festival. It is called  ‘’le festival des deux rives’’. It almost sounds like a mardi gras parade from the description that the lady at the tourist bureau gave. It passes close by and finishes at maybe 7- or 8- minute walk from here at Pey Berland. The big circus also starts today. It is here until the 22 of March, so we wandered around the grounds to have a look. It wasn’t very busy.

After lunch, we headed to the tram line to another edge of Bordeaux to a place called Ausone where there is an ecological parc with many small playgrounds throughout. When we started our walk (geocaching) in the park it was nice and sunny, but that didn’t last. It soon started to rain. Thank God that it didn’t last too long because of course we were without our rain jackets or umbrella again. That is why even when it’s sunny everyone has an umbrella with them. By the time we took the tram back, the sun was shining and the sky was blue again.

We disembarked at place des Quinconces and walked the rest of the way home. I cannot imagine how many people there must be in the summer, because on the weekends, the streets are full of people. We took a street parallel to the one we normally take to avoid the crowds and stopped in one store to browse, where they had high end groceries for tourists to take home. Next week we will do more browsing in the stores before we leave.
