Gibraltar - February 19

We were on the road at 10:15 and made it to Gibraltar just before noon. The sky was a bit hazy with one big cloud hovering most of the day, so the picture quality isn't great.
All in all, Gibraltar wasn't that great either. It consists mostly of getting all the money they can from tourists. They say you should remember the fond memories of places that you have already been to rather than go back to recreate new ones. We paid around 50$ for fish and chips that were no better than fish sticks and each a beer. Parking is not cheap either. I was a bit scared when I saw .32 e per minute but at the end, we only paid around 8 euros for the 3 hours that we were there. To take a 1 1/2 hr. tour is 120$ for 2. It gets you about 15 minutes in the caves and 10 minutes with the Barbary apes. We didn't take it since we had already done it 10 years ago. There is no place that you can go not even walk that doesn't cost something. 6 euros each to keep walking uphill. We opted for walking, but it is a hard walk. Up steps or up steep streets. The way back is a bit easier but not by much because it is still steep going down. I only logged about 15000 steps, but they were hard ones.
One of the unique things about Gibraltar is that the airport runway is parallel to the border. This means that you have to cross the middle of the runway to get into Gibraltar and back. There are signal lights and gates to stop traffic when a plan lands or takes off.
Tonight's supper was a bottle of wine and pasta with a bottle of sauce and some fresh shrimps added to it. An easy supper. We were too tired for more.
We drank the rest of the bottle on the patio while enjoying the super moon.

We did not make it to the top to see the monkeys so here is a picture taken 13 years ago.
