Today we took the metro to the beach. Not many people there. the
weather was around 20 but it was windy. We walked around all day, the beach was
really nice, very flat and wide. the ocean a dark blue. There was a cruise ship
in port. They even have a wooden walkway for wheelchairs that goes about
halfway to the water. I don’t know if the tides rise a lot or not much.
We cached all over that area, which included the university of
Valencia which is huge. U of M is at least 15 times smaller. We walked and
walked and were still on the campus. With all of that we walked another 19 km.
and found 16 more caches.
Today we didn’t hit well for lunch. We entered what looked like a
good restaurant. My primero plate was soup. It tasted like chicken noodle from
a can and Jacques though he was ordering a ham croissant. It turned out to be
canned peas with ham, my segundo was sardines from a can also (I was imagining
the sardines that they cook over an open flame everywhere in Spain, except at
this restaurant), with some sort of egg tart (good) on the side. Jacques
ordered the (we thought) mixed sausages. You guessed it hotdogs with fries and
a very good salsa. So, for dessert we went with what we knew. Ice cream and
strawberries. But no, it was vanilla and strawberry ice-cream. But what the heck, a bottle of wine was
included in the meal. It cost us 15 euros.
So where in Moncton can you 2 people have a meal with starter and main course,
dessert and a bottle of wine for 20 $. It’s the first meal that wasn’t great,
but we had fun laughing at our dishes when they arrived, so all is well.
This is what I’ve been dreaming of doing for years and I’m
enjoying every single moment.
Tomorrow for supper we are going again to that gem of a restaurant
that we found last week. We have yet to find one as good. We gave it a 5-star
rating last week. We’ll see tomorrow night if it’s still as good. Trip advisor
had it rated #17 out of close to 3,000.
