Wow where to start. After along day at Heathrow airport we arrived
about an hour later than expected in Budapest. The airport at Heathrow is huge.
It took us 15 minutes by bus to get from one terminal to another.
Our first day everywhere we go seems to be destined to adventure.
Our adventure began when the taxi dropped us at our location and when we went
to pay her (the taxi driver) she told us that our money was old and wasn't any
good. This is money that we got from the bank of Montreal at home. She wouldn't
take our 5,000 and 2,000 bills. Fortunately, we had enough smaller bills to pay
with. we tried an exchange counter and at a restaurant and we got the same
answer. We are not impressed with the service from the bank of Montreal right
now.
But the adventure continues... The taxi dropped us off and we
looked for our apartment. We had pictures as well as directions. We couldn't
find it so we called the host. When we explained where we were, he told us we
were right in front of it. Sure enough there it was right in front of us. But
we still needed to retrieve the key. I stayed with the luggage while Jacques
went with the instructions and pictures of where the key was hidden. Half an
hour later he came back with no key. We had to call again and have the host
come and give us the key.
The rest of the evening composed of going out for supper which was
very good. We both had goulash soup for appetizer. I had a paprika based
chicken in sauce and Jacques had a venison stew. Both were very tasty.
The apartment was good and clean, and we had a good night's sleep.
We have done so many things in the last 3 days that I won't bore
you with. Tonight, we set sail for Bratislava. Hopefully I'll be able to catch
up on my journal.
