We are stopped in Lexington Kentucky for the night.
We seem to be on the other side of the mountains, much
of the day we had rolling hills instead of mountains and now that we have
reached Kentucky it seems to be mostly flat. We haven’t seen many horses but
there are plenty of cattle to go around. Today and yesterdays travel should be
really awesome in the summer or fall because there are hardly any evergreens,
almost all the trees are deciduous. In the fall when the leaves change colour
it should be awesome.
Yesterday, going down the mountains there were runaway
ramps for the trucks. It’s an uphill ramp made of sand on the side of the
mountains. If the trucks brake gives out, they take that ramp and the sand and
uphill slope slow them down. Today there were hardly any trucks on the road
which was really nice. Actually, there was hardly any traffic except around the
big cities like Huntington and Charleston.
Lexington is quite big. We went out to visit after
supper but couldn’t find a place to park and mister who doesn’t like to walk
needlessly decided to come back to the hotel, so we didn’t see much.
