There are firecrackers going off more and more in the city. There
are some for every age. Even the very young 2 and 3-year olds have bags of
little crackers that they drop to the ground and make a small explosion. The 6
to 10-year olds walk around with wooden boxes that they carry by means of a
rope around their neck. These boxes are full of firecrackers.
They have a short rope with the end burning so they light their
firecrackers with the rope before throwing it on the ground. the older they get
the bigger the firecracker and the more noise they make. If a bomb were to go
off nobody would notice for a while because there are little explosions
everywhere going on. You have to wonder how many kids or adults for that matter
get hurt every year during the Fallas festival.

Yesterday there was paella cooking competitions in many parts of
the city. We mostly watched one man. He told us that he will send the recipe. I
hope he does. He has already sent us a picture so hopefully he will keep his
word especially since he is the one who offered.
We spent most of the last week walking around the main part of valencia checking on the progress of the various sculptures plus any other points of interest.

We are moving on to Barcelona tomorrow morning for our last week.
So we’ll have to learn where all the cool spots in that city are.
