March 15 - Barcelona

Well, we have arrived in Barcelona. the weather is so-so, a few showers but nothing to stop us from doing a bit of sight seeing. The apartment is ok but not great. It is a far cry from the 3-bedroom apartment we had in Valencia. It is quite small which we expected but the pots and pans for cooking are very minimal so guess what, I’ll have to endure eating out at the restaurant. There was no coffee maker which is a must for me in the morning. We called the caretaker and she brought us a new one. The table is alright, but the chairs are stools that are high so eating or doing anything is a challenge. The table and the seats are almost at the same height. We had pasta for supper and I managed to splash some sauce on my top as well as on my jeans. We’ll be doing a lot of laundry if we eat in the apartment. So, as you can see it’s going to be the restaurant for meals this week. The price was really good and at my age I should know by now ‘’you get what you pay for’’. But I’m not complaining, we have a bedroom with a bed, a living room with a couch and a TV and a small kitchen with fridge, stove top and microwave so still not bad. And everything is very clean.

We found a store close by that sells wine in bulk. You buy a canister or container and you get it refilled. We bought a 2-liter container for 50 cents and then paid 2.15 /liter. The wine is actually a lot better than what we were buying at the grocery store for a bit more. The first liter disappeared on the first night.
