This was out first stop on our cruise. Being our first cruise, we were very excited to start our tour and were among the first off the ship. While we were waiting at our bus to start our tour, we heard a loud snap. One of the ships huge ropes snapped and unfortunately, hit one of the crew members, killing him instantly. It made for a sad start to the day.
Our destination for today is Olympia, site of the original Onlympic games that took place every four years from 776 BC to 393 AD. Unfortunately, the Olympic site was closed due to a strike so we could only see it from outside the fence.
Pedestal where the champion of each event would stand for the awards ceremony.
Baron Pierre de Coubertin was founder of the modern olympic games
