February 19 - Monchique, Foia and Silves

Our two weeks are almost up. Today, we drove to Monchique and Foia. Foia is to highest point in the southern portion of Portugal. When we left our apartment, it was sunny and warm but once we arrived in Foia, it was cold with rain showers. There were even traces of snow on the ground. It was a very enjoyable day with greats views, lots of cork trees and many old abandoned farm houses along the hillsides near Foia.

On the way back to the apartment, we drove through Silves where we saw a Moorish castle. We stopped to take a few pictures, but we did not have time to go inside.

Towards the end of our day, we passed by the Albufeira Bull ring.
