This morning we took a ferry from Tarifa to visit Tangers. It was
a very interesting experience seeing a very different culture from what we are
used to seeing. The streets are very narrow and crooked, so we had to stay
close to our guides. At times, some of the locals would try to point us in the
wrong direction to separate us from our group. Not sure what would have happened
followed their direction.
Most homes do not have a stove, so they make their bread and
dishes at home and bring them to bakeries to be cooked. The baker will make
depressions in the bread sough with his fingers using a different pattern for
each customer so that they know what bread belongs to who after it is cooked.
We got a chance to get on a camel which is an experience in
itself. Totally different than getting on a horse. We were on the camel for
about 2 minutes, just long enough for a photo op.
At the end of the afternoon, we returned by ferry to Tarifa and
then drove to our hotel in Algeciras.
