On our last day of our 3-day bus tour we visit Gibraltar. Spain
has issues with Gibraltar being until British jurisdiction instead of Spanish.
With this in mind, our tour guide indicated that the customs officers can
sometimes be picky while other times there are no issues. Well this time they
decided to make our crossing difficult. They had all passengers take their
luggage off the bus and place them inside the customs building. After that,
they allowed the bus to cross the border and made everyone take their luggage
and put them back on the bus. Nothing was checked, they just wanted to make a
point. Luckily, we had no issues coming back.
The main points of Gibraltar are the Barbary apes which number
between 250 and 300. The are used to people and are not afraid of getting close
so keep an eye on your belongings. They will even reach into your pockets to
see if you have food. The airport runway with the main road in the middle.
There is a traffic light to stop traffic whenever there is a plain landing or taking
off. Finally, there are tunnels and a large cave where concerts are sometimes
given due to the excellent acoustics.
