Good-bye to Alicante - April 2

It must be time to go home as the last few days we are just wandering around aimlessly not knowing where to go and what to do.

After hanging the last load of laundry on the roof, we decided to go one last time at the central market to take pictures. We also wanted to take a picture of all the adults coming from work on their electric scooters (type trottinette). We see them all the time but today it took forever before we saw one going by.

We watched the movers taking the furniture down from an apartment via a lift on a ladder hooked to their patio rail 3 floors up. All that exercise made us hungry, so we headed for the tapas bar before the rush hour. We had 2 mini beers and 4 tapas each. We noticed that they would ring a bell behind the bar every now and then. After a while, we figured that it may have something to do with when someone leaves a tip. The bill came to 11.32 euros. Jacques left them a .68 cent tip and sure enough the bell rang. We had noticed at another place where we had left a tip of .50 cents a bell ringing. It is not often that they get a tip.

That finished we wandered again on the waterfront before going to the bar in front of the Santa Maria church. We spent the afternoon there nursing a pitcher of Sangria and watching the people go by as well as some men working at restoring the facade of an apartment building nearby.

It was a nice relaxing way to finish off the vacation.

Just before going to bed, we heard noise outside, so we went on the patio to see what was going on. It was a thunder storm with lots of thunder and lightning and pouring rain. The street was like a river full of dirt from the erosion of the san Fernando mountain behind our street. 

Tomorrow will be a quite day with packing and walking one final time in town. We will be taking a taxi to the airport at 6:30 Thursday morning to start our return trip home, arriving around 11:00 Thursday night. In total, we walked over 625 kms.

It has been a great vacation and we are already looking at different destinations to see where we will go next year.
