Quite an adventure to start our vacation in Portugal. First, we
had the milk run with stops in Toronto, Punta Delgada, Porto, Lisbon and
finally Faro. Problem is that it took a lot longer than planned. We reached
Porto without any problems but at one point, we noticed that planes were
leaving one by one, but no new planes were arriving. Our connecting flight was
showing that it was delayed more and more. Turns out that there were mini
tornadoes in the area and flights to Porto were being diverted elsewhere. That
is when the fun started. Took us over 3 hours to try to get rebooked on a new
flight. Easier said than done when everyone around you speaks Portuguese and
are able to get the attention of the staff much easier that we could. We
finally got rebooked on a flight leaving for Lisbon around midnight. In Lisbon,
we were sent to a hotel where we had very little sleep since we had to be back
at the airport by 7 the next morning. We finally completed the trip to Faro and
were met at the airport by the person responsible for our condo. After a 45-minute
ride, we finally made it.

Down the street from our condo. Was possibly a church at one time but now it's a bar.
