October 31, Day 7 - Return to Lisbon

The alarm rang way too soon this morning. After breakfast we all boarded the bus for our return to Lisbon.

The 1st stop was in Aviero, this city was full of canals and you could take gondola ride along the biggest canal if you wanted. We chose along with everyone else to just stroll around the old part of town. This town had the most tiled houses I had ever seen. There was one street that every house on it was tiled covered. The town is also known for it's salt flats. They also have many rice fields.

Bus drivers in Portugal are required to stop for 45 minutes every 2 hours of driving so instead of stopping at a gas station/rest stop we stopped in the town of Alcobaça for lunch. Before going to the restaurant recommended by our guide he gave us a tour of the cathedral.

We arrived around 4 at the hotel and after a bit of repacking we headed out with Geri and George in search of supper and a last stroll around the streets of Lisbon.

    We stopped at a rest stop restaurant instead of Alcobaca!
