August 28, 2010 - Bergues and Bruges

Today, we visited Bruges in the north eastern part of France where the movie Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis was filmed.

Channel Tunnel boring machine (TBM) named "Virginie," which is now a monument in Coquelles.

Belfry of Bergues in the town of Bergues, France. This landmark is a UNESCO World Heritage structure and is famous for its role in the French film Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis.

Canal used in the film.

Post office in the film.

Playing cabin and mechanism of a carillon, a musical instrument composed of tuned bronze bells.

View from the belfrey.

After that we continued to Bruges, Belgium. Bruges is known as the Venice of the north. It was a beautiful sunny day so we treated ourselves to a wonderful boat tour along the cannels.

Belfry of Bruges (Belfort van Brugge), a medieval bell tower in the centre of Bruges, Belgium. It was featured in the movie "In Bruges"
